I like critical thinking because I believe that critical thinking is very important skill in our lives. However, my first language is not English, so it was very difficult for me to use English in critical thinking. Anyway, that’s why I take English 5 to overcome my problem. Because I love Lauren’s teaching style, I take her English 5 in fall semester. For the SAC, I joined a group to talk about the two essays that we read in this week. For the topic of free speech and pornography, the issues which they make people think deeply. I believe everyone is entitled to his own opinion. During the time, I was very enjoyable listening to my partners’ opinions. Even though I didn’t understand some words what they said, I still got some ideas from them which help me to realize the two essays.

we're kinda in the same boat because english is not my first language either and thinking in both language is really hard and yea lauren's class is really fun
ReplyDeleteI think it's amazing that you are challenging yourself to think critically in English, and it's not your first language. I'm taking my first semester of Spanish right now, and I can't even imagine taking a critical thinking class in Spanish! You will have fun in this class, I'm sure. Nice to meet you :)
ReplyDeleteHey..I also think that critical thinking is a very important skill that we should build up. Just like you, i have a difficult time with critical thinking and i want to overcome the problem. I hope we can both feel comfortable with critical thinking after this class.
ReplyDeleteCritical thinking is certainly an important part of shaping how we see the world, even though it is not the easiest thing to do sometimes. Our discussions in class have been very eye-opening. I appreciate your different perspective on the topics we discussed. It opens up a new way of thinking for me as well.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoy Lauren’s teaching style also! I took Eng 1A with Lori Kuwabara and her style was very similar to Lauren’s, even though the two classes have different objectives. I was nervous about having a new instructor for Eng 5 but Lauren is great! Having a good instructor makes you feel comfortable in the classroom!
